This is a page I set up to write down my thoughts about the books I read, which are mostly science fiction.  I do have a military background and read quite a bit of nonfiction regarding military matters, but if I ever feel the need to discuss it I’ll probably start another blog.  Generally I’ve had trouble finding places to even state my thoughts about, much less discuss, what I read, so I figured I’d start putting what I think out there.  The blog format has fallen out of favor over the years, but I find the social media that supplanted it to be both too ephemeral and too personal.  I generally avoid reading new fiction; most of it is terrible, and while I have some respect for those who trawl the polluted ocean of freshly-published works for the odd edible catch, I lack the inclination even when I have the time.  If this habit makes me a “dinosaur”, all the better to use the stodgy if not quite yet old-fashioned blog format.
